Utah's Best for Classic 60's and 70's Rock 'n' Roll Music
Dave Thomas
Vocals
Dave Thomas
Dave Thomas: Lead singer and driver of the Winnebago. Dave is the Recreation Supervisor for Layton City, 52 years old and still thinks that 8-tracks are the only way to listen to music. Dave is the father of four and a husband of one. Dave's first musical experience came in the 7th grade in Denison, Texas, playing in a group called The Little GTO's. The group disbanded when the lead guitarist discovered girls and took his equipment home. Dave would like to be a stand-up comedian but finds that with a band you can have the best of both worlds. Dave loves the music that gets the foot tapping and the memories flashing. He thinks old rock and roll is the greatest music to play because everybody has a favorite, and when you hit it all inhibitions are gone. They get up and get crazy. When that happens you know you have succeeded.

Tyler Blackner
Bass, Keyboards, Background Vocals
Tyler Blackner is the best bass player from the Layton High School Class of 1970. Tyler's first musical experience came in the 1960's playing with fellow band-mate Sherm MacFarlane in The Glass Web. Tyler played bass guitar and organ with The Glass Web until the band parted ways in 1970. Thirty years later Tyler finds himself reunited
with Sherm and with his best friend Dave Thomas as one of the original members of Mid-Life Crisis. He left the band for a short period, but is now back combining his talents with those of Barry Sanderson to form
a rhythm section that captures the energy and drive of the original music and breathes into it new life.

Sherm MacFarlane
Guitar
Sherm MacFarlane
Sherm grew up in Layton, Utah, in the 1960's. His first guitar was a Sears Silvertone with an amplifier in the guitar case. From that time forward a love affair began with that era of classic Rock 'n' Roll. In high school he became part of a band known as The Glass Web. Thirty years into the future Sherm is still playing the classic Rock 'n' Roll he grew up with, now laying down the essential rhythm guitar work for Mid-Life Crisis. He just wishes he still had that old Sivertone.

Barry Sanderson
Drums, Percussion, Vocals
From the time he got his first Sears catalog drum set in the 9th grade, Barry Sanderson has been a part of some kind of musical adventure. From playing the drums for the high school choir and various local bands to touring the world with the Weber State University's Good Company and the USO. Mid-Life Crisis represents the best evolutionary change that a musician can have: a chance to play the music that was instrumental in changing an entire generation's point of view. With a family, a career at Intermountain Healthcare, a mortgage and countless other obligations it can be hard to find the time to indulge in one's passions, but the opportunity to do so with such a fine group of people in the same situation makes it magical. Being "smack in the middle" of a Mid-Life Crisis makes it the best time of life!

Brenda Burton
Vocals and Keyboards
Brenda Burton
Brenda was the last to join Mid-Life Crisis, but her warm, yet powerful voice gives Mid-Life Crisis a versatility that creates an essential dynamic of their live performances. A former Miss Layton, Brenda has sung with several high school groups, recorded a CD of original music and was a runner-up in Mr. Microphone, Utah's version of American Idol. Her inclusion in the group came through the influence of Doug Pierce who had played with Brenda in several groups in high school. They made a deal years earlier that one would not play in a band without the other.

Doug Pierce
Lead Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Keyboards
The youngest member of Mid-Life Crisis, Doug's love of music started while in elementary school. It was the age of Disco, but he was drawn to an older form of music based on the Blues. He played guitar in several junior high and high school bands, performing everywhere from Disneyland to the opening of an automotive repair facility. He sort of fell into Mid-Life Crisis by accident when they needed a replacement guitarist for their first gig. Doug is married to the lovely Colleen and is the father of three beautiful girls: Alexa, Victoria and MaryAnn. Obviously he believes in the power of the ring! He is also the father of 14 to 20 guitars (depending on when you ask him).
